As-built documentation terms

As-built drawing

An accurate 2D CAD drawing documenting a building exactly as it currently exists, produced from a laser scan.

Record drawing

A design drawing marked up with construction changes; it reflects reported changes rather than independent measurement.

Existing conditions

The current, real-world state of a building or site.

Field verification

Confirming measurements against the actual building — here, via survey-grade laser scan.

A scaled top-down drawing of a level showing walls, rooms, and openings.

Reflected ceiling plan (RCP)

A drawing of the ceiling as if reflected on the floor, showing lights, grids, and fixtures.

Elevation

A scaled drawing of a vertical face of a building.

Section

A drawing showing a building as if cut vertically to reveal internal structure.

BOMA / rentable area

Standardized methods for measuring floor area for leasing and space planning.
