Scan-to-BIM converts a real, existing building into an accurate Revit model. We capture the space with laser scanning, then model directly from the point cloud to the Level of Development (LOD) your project needs. Here is how the workflow runs from field to model.
The scan-to-bim process, step by step
- Scope & LOD agreement. We confirm which disciplines (architectural, structural, MEP) and what Level of Development (LOD 200–350) your model needs, and how it will be used downstream.
- On-site laser scanning. Survey-grade scanners capture the building as a millimeter-accurate point cloud, including structure and mechanical systems above ceilings.
- Registration. Scans are aligned into one coordinated point cloud with a documented accuracy check, then imported into Revit.
- Revit modeling. Our modelers build native Revit elements directly from the point cloud to the agreed LOD and discipline scope.
- QA & clash review. The model is checked against the point cloud for accuracy and reviewed for coordination before delivery.
- Delivery. You receive the native Revit (.rvt) model, plus IFC / Navisworks exports and the point cloud if needed.
