Key takeaways:
- 2D AutoCAD drafting of existing buildings: plans, RCPs, roof plans, elevations, sections and details.
- Drafted from a registered point cloud, not tape measures or old record drawings.
- DWG and PDF, layered to your CAD standard and title block.
- The same scan can also produce a Revit model through scan-to-BIM.
What you get
- Floor plans, reflected ceiling plans and roof plans
- Exterior and interior elevations
- Building sections, wall sections and details
- Site plans showing the building footprint and surroundings
- AutoCAD DWG plus print-ready PDF, layered to your title block and layer conventions
- The registered point cloud on request (E57 or RCP)
Common uses
Existing-conditions sheets for a renovation or permit set, tenant fit-out and space planning, lease and area exhibits, facility records for owners and property managers, due diligence before an acquisition, and replacing record drawings that no longer match the building.
Our process
- Scope call: the building, the sheets you need, your CAD standard and the accuracy the drawings must support.
- Laser scan capture of the existing structure, usually in one to two days on site.
- Registration and QA of the point cloud in Autodesk ReCap, checked to the agreed tolerance before drafting starts.
- Drafting in AutoCAD over the point cloud, to your layers and title block.
- Delivery and revisions as DWG and PDF, with the point cloud kept on file for later sheets.
CAD Drafting Services in Pittsburgh and Western Pennsylvania
We provide CAD drafting services in Pittsburgh and across Western Pennsylvania from our base in Homestead, PA, for commercial, industrial, institutional and residential buildings. Coverage centers on seven counties: Allegheny, Beaver, Butler, Washington, Westmoreland, Fayette and Armstrong. Work outside Pennsylvania is quoted with travel included.
Our drawings are the existing-conditions base, not a sealed permit set. Most renovation permits in Pennsylvania need plans sealed by a Pennsylvania-registered architect or engineer; that professional designs the new work and seals the set, building on the measured plans and sections we provide.
Need a model instead of drawings? The same scan feeds scan-to-BIM modeling in Revit. If you are not sure which you need, read scan-to-BIM vs. 2D CAD as-builts.
Typical timeline
Most commercial drafting projects are scanned in one to two days and delivered within one to three weeks, depending on square footage, the number of sheets and the level of detail. Rush timelines are available.

Why CAD Construct LLC
Founder Keith Owens trained at Triangle Tech in Pittsburgh and has 20 years of architectural drafting experience. Before starting CAD Construct he produced construction documents the conventional way, from old drawings, tape measures and site photos. Now he scans the building first and drafts every set himself, so the person who captured the site is the person who draws it.
Frequently asked questions
What CAD drafting services do you offer?
We draft 2D AutoCAD drawings of existing buildings: floor plans, reflected ceiling plans, roof plans, elevations, sections and details, drafted from a 3D laser scan of the building. Drawings are delivered as DWG and PDF to your layer and title block standards. See as-built documentation for the full drawing list.
Do you draft from a laser scan or from field measurements?
From a laser scan. We capture the building as a registered point cloud, check it to the agreed tolerance, then draft over it in AutoCAD. Every line comes from measured data, which avoids the missed dimensions and return trips that come with tape-measure surveys.
Can you work to our CAD standards and title block?
Yes. Send your CAD standard, layer list and title block before drafting starts and the drawing set is delivered to match, so it opens in your office ready to use. If you have no standard, we use a clean, consistent default layer structure.
Do you provide sealed or stamped drawings?
No. We provide accurate existing-conditions drawings. Where a permit requires sealed plans, a Pennsylvania-registered architect or engineer designs the new work and seals the set, using our measured drawings as the base.
Can the same scan produce a Revit model?
Yes. The point cloud we draft from can also be modeled in Revit through scan-to-BIM, now or later, without another site visit. Many owners take 2D drawings first and add a model when a larger project needs one.
How much does CAD drafting cost?
Cost depends mainly on square footage, the number and type of sheets, and the level of detail. Use the as-built cost calculator for a ballpark, or send us a floor plan for a fixed quote.
